Volunteering

volunteering

I saw a little girl in the street, she was trembling with cold. She was wearing a light dress and had little hope of a decent meal. I got angry and asked God: "Why do you allow this? Why don't you do something?" God didn't answer for a while. Then he answered me that night, all of a sudden: "Of course I did something. I made you".

Anthony de Mello, "Il Canto degli Uccelli"

What can you do with us?

The Foundation offers many volunteer opportunities both during summer time (group activities) and throughout the year (individual activities). The activities to take part to and to support are: summer camp in July and August, scout activities, distribution of food boxes to elderly people and communication activities throughout the year. The Foundation is also accredited to host EVS (European Voluntary Service) volunteers.

Group experiences: during summer months (July – August) you can work as an animator in our summer camp (within the project "Să învățăm distrându-ne"). The presence of 4-6 people groups is suggested, as the activities are tiring and someone will be also asked to take care of everyone's lunch. The summer camp's schedule starts at 9.30 am and ends at 5 pm. This is a typical day at the summer camp:

Schedule
  • 9:30 - praying time, warming up, score of the previous day and task assignment
  • 10:00 - organized game
  • 11:00 - homework
  • 12:00 - short games
  • 12:30 - table laying and lunch
  • 13:30 - tasks (table clearing and washing, room cleaning, diary, animation)
  • 14:00 - manual activity (it is usually too hot to play outside, there are ca. 35-40°C – 95-104°F)
  • 16:00 - break
  • 16:30 - animation and short game if there is still time (usually there is not!)
  • 17:00 - praying time and then everyone goes home

Individual experiences: during the year you can come and live a volunteer experience at our headquarters, helping us with the communication and with our recreational and educational activities for the children. You can also take part in the EVS project ( European Voluntary Service) which lasts from 6 months to 1 year.

The ideal volunteer

The ideal volunteers are friendly, ready to help and get hands dirty (to work with children you don't need makeup and miniskirt ...), they are available (you come to get a volunteering experience and you should be available to those who need you), positive and adaptable. The place is nice, large space, the rooms are en suite, there is a kitchen available to volunteers and a large hall for entertainment. For large groups, a larger room will be prepared.

Come and join us! Be a volunteer!
